Violence
Over a million people lose their life to violence every year, with far more suffering from the non-lethal but profound economic and psychological toll of experiencing violence. We use statistics to study the causes of all forms of violence, ranging from fist-fights and riots to civil conflicts and political collapse. By better understanding those factors that exacerbate or subdue the natural human tendency to engage in violence, we hope to support the design of policies that will reduce the human costs of this most basic instinct.
